Finally, immigrant workers can get support for the impacts caused by COVID.
Recognizing that immigrant workers are critical to communities throughout Washington, the state has opened a relief fund to provide $40 million. The funds come from the federal government, but have been allocated by the state. The purpose is to support Washington undocumented workers who miss work due to COVID-19 but are unable to access federal stimulus programs and other social supports due to their immigration status. Eligible recipients can receive $1,000, with a limit of $3,000 per household for as long as the fund continues.
To apply to the Washington COVID-19 Immigrant Relief Fund, go to immigrantreliefwa.org. The deadline is December 6. Benefits will be disbursed by December 28.
